Free Fire has been released from the App Store and Google Play Store in India

The Ministry of Home Affairs blocked 54 other Chinese applications today, including the famous military theme, Garena Free Fire. The game saw the highest number downloaded last year, with a 72 percent increase in inputs compared to 2020 - just after the ban on PUBG Mobile.

It is interesting to note that, an engineer, Garena Sea is a company based in Singapore, but integrated with other Chinese applications.

What is Free Fire?

Free Fire is actually a free-fighting game in Krafton's PUBG series, despite having a small number of players. In the game, 50 survivors are stationed on the island in search of weapons and supplies, as they battle to remain the last man standing.

Similar to PUBG, as time goes on, the safe play area available keeps shrinking, closing the entire crowd in a tight circle - thus lifting the poles. To make it easier to cross, one can navigate with obsolete vehicles and check for loot and bagged air two or three times during a 10-minute session. Although these crates are tempting in appearance, they are an open invitation for nearby players to camp and hunt, as your area is exposed to the colorful smoke coming out of it.

This was a source of controversy last month, when PUBG developer Krafton filed two lawsuits against Garena, accusing the company of copying multiple machines, including a copyrighted "air pollution" feature.

The actors also saw a clear similarity between the two games, apart from the way the characters dressed. PUBG and BGMI (Indian military bases) take a realistic approach, adding military tools and weapons to the game. The Garena Free Fire, however, adorns its characters with vivid colors, intricate voice lines, and artistic style reminiscent of Fortnite.

Interestingly, Krafton also had a legal dispute with Epic Games, when they called Fortnite for copying their battle royale format and mechanics. The case was eventually dropped, although it has not yet been heard.

It should be noted that the concept of 'wars' originally originated in a Japanese novel with the same name as the author Koushun Takami in 1999.

Is Free Fire has been released from the App Store and Google Play Store in India?

Players who have already downloaded Free Fire have been able to play it, despite limited success. The popular war royale game, Garena Free Fire has been removed from the App Store and Google Play Store. The news comes a month after Krafton, the creator of PUBG filed two lawsuits against the company.

Those who have already downloaded Free Fire have been able to play it, despite limited success. For the past 24 hours, players have been reporting problems when entering a game where certain technical issues do not allow them. The game is currently not available for download at any mobile store and in some cases, it is not visible when you enter a search query.

It is noteworthy that for the most advanced version, Free Fire Max is available for download at the Google Play Store at the time of writing, or may not appear anywhere in the App Store. Garena did not disclose any specific reason, so the best bet is to wait until they have an official statement.

Dedicated players have always been concerned if the game was quietly banned in India, similar to what we saw with PUBG: Mobile during the onset of the COVID-19 epidemic. India had blocked hundreds of Chinese applications at the time, including TikTok, Weibo, and WeChat.

Garena was recently criticized by Krafton, who found two charges of "copying" too many aspects of Battlegrounds, including the 'windmill' feature, game structure, combination of weapons, and unique items. The company also sued Google and Apple for hosting and promoting Free Fire in their area. Nothing much has been heard about the case other than Garena Sea's parent company Sea, which claims, "Krafton's claims are baseless."
